A community of designers, thinkers, and makers who have spent years building a culture around one idea: creative freedom isn’t a perk, it’s a basic right. Ten principles shape how we think, work and evolve together. We call them the tenets of Carbon Culture.
Listen first, judge later. Every idea gets understood before it gets evaluated, because good creators look at things without their biases getting in the way.
Like carbon atoms, we are strongest when we bond together. The best work here always has more than one set of hands on it.
We give feedback to help, and we take it without flinching. Feedback on your work is never a verdict on you.
We say what we mean. No layers, no sugar-coating, no making people guess what we actually think.
We design like the world depends on it, because sometimes it does. "Good enough" is where we start, never where we stop.
We always underpromise, and overdeliver. We go the extra mile, and never a mile short.
We try the untried. Every project gets at least one new experiment, and always the hard, fundamental questions.
Respect has many forms. We respect by listening to voices and opinions different from our own, by respecting each other’s time, and by choosing words of kindness.
Good ideas do not check job titles. Intern or team lead, the best idea wins.
You cannot pour from an empty cup. Deadlines matter here, but so do you.

The Future of Food
Our first cohort asked emerging designers to reimagine food in a post-scarcity world: nutrition, trust, and the traditions we carry to the table. It set the tone for everything that followed.
Through the Carbon Cohort. It's our only internship program, and it runs once a year. Applications open in September, reviews take place throughout October and November, and the selected cohort begins in January. The program lasts a minimum of six months, and we do not offer summer internships. Most internships are a direct plunge into the professional world, and days filled with repetitive tasks that your boss doesn’t want to do. The Carbon Cohort is different. Here, you have the liberty to choose your own briefs, work on something you are passionate about, or dip your toes into a live client project, all while being mentored by experienced designers and inspiring peers. We are not looking for extra hands. We’re looking for the next Carbons.
Yes. We hire across junior, mid, and senior levels across all disciplines. New full-time roles open up as the team grows. We also occasionally bring people on for specific projects as freelancers or for retainer work. If you don't see an open role that fits, reach out. The best hiring conversations often start before the role is even identified.
Specialize. But stay curious. We have brand designers deep in identity and strategy design, industrial designers expert in medical devices and transportation, and UI designers obsessing over motion and interaction. Each has their lane. You get to pick yours. What we ask is that you understand why the other disciplines matter, how they can add to your work, and collaborate like you speak a common language.
We're in Gandhinagar. The Carbon Compound is where most of our work and culture happens, and we prefer everyone here most of the time. That said, we're flexible on the edges. Occasional WFH, flex hours. But the default is in-person. Design happens better when people bounce ideas off of each other and are in conversation.
