Carbon Ventures is our venture studio, where we build the future by applying design where it is most impactful. At the emergence of an idea. Some ventures begin as our own experiments, while others are bold startups whose ideas we believe in. We work directly with founders to explore untapped spaces, prototype rapidly, and build with intent. Each venture is designed to be resilient and to stand on its own.
Ideas that start with us
A studio-born venture is one whose spark came from inside Studio Carbon. Sometimes it is a Carbon chasing a hunch. Sometimes it is an intern building their graduation project alongside us. Wherever it begins, the idea is ours to grow, and we give it the room to grow. Speculative design, rapid prototyping, and the freedom to try and fail. Some stay as experiments. Others gain traction and spin out as companies of their own.
Training for glory
Hyperlab builds the training tech that elite sports organizations usually keep to themselves. Its first product, Helios, turns any space into a reaction arena, featuring laser targets that track your movement, a 0.2-second response window, and live performance data delivered to your phone as you train. Reflexes, agility, stamina, all measured. It runs on one belief: peak performance should not be a privilege.

Building the Future with Shit
Dungse Labs makes building materials out of cow dung. Our proprietary composites—DungWood, DungCrete, and DungPlastic—consist of over 70% dung, engineered to replace virgin wood, particle board, and conventional plastics. What dairy farms treat as waste is naturally anti-microbial, lightweight, water-repellent, and biodegradable. Dungse transforms this environmental challenge into a sustainable future.

Ideas that come to us
A studio-supported venture begins outside our walls. The brand or idea already exists, often with significant maturity behind it, before we get involved. We back it with our time and resources, then work shoulder-to-shoulder with the founders to refine and sharpen the concept to ready it for market. For these projects, we collaborate with venture capital firms, institutes, and startup accelerators.
This initiative started with a simple question: What happens when design-led thinking meets early-stage healthcare? Samvardhan is our accelerator program in collaboration with BITS Pilani. It supports early-stage medtech startups with design, strategy, and growth mentorship. In return, we hold a long-term equity stake, aligning us with each founder’s success.
Our latest cohort is underway. This year, Samvardhan is backing two promising MedTech ventures; they have joined the studio for hands-on mentorship in design, strategy, and growth as they build toward market entry. Stay tuned for more updates on our progress!
The first Samvardhan cohort brought six early-stage medtech startups into the studio. Over the next six months, our team collaborated with the founders to turn promising medical technology into refined products, clearer strategies, and the confidence to take them to market.
As a client, you get a defined scope, executed well, and delivered on time. That's a full-service engagement, priced and paid as one. Carbon Ventures works differently. We have skin in the game, so we're more flexible, more involved, and we move at the pace the idea needs rather than a fixed scope. However, we only go the venture route if we truly believe in the idea. Because from that point on, its success is ours too.

Usually, we put in time and design resources rather than capital, working as a founding design partner to the venture. In return, we take equity, earned as sweat equity. This stake is the whole point, as after this, your success and ours becomes the same thing. The exact structure depends on the venture and how early we come in.
Samvardhan runs in cohorts, in partnership with BITS Pilani, and applications open ahead of each new edition. We look for early-stage medtech founders solving a real clinical problem, with a working proof of concept and the drive to build it. It becomes its own company, with its own team, name, and direction. Hyperlab and Dungse Labs both began inside the studio and now stand on their own. We stay connected as a long-term stakeholder and design partner, but the venture evolves as a separate entity. Building something good enough to outgrow us is exactly the goal.
